Linked in the air
Plane Travel. Friggin nightmare to most, especially the business traveler.
I’ve always said that the airline should have smaller planes on some routes that only allow frequent flyers. These are the people that know how to board, put stuff away, have memorized the safety instructions and are there to get things done and have the flight over as soon as they can.
Add some serious wifi (sorry, gogoinflight, you’re not good enough) and put in phone booths where people can make calls and get things done.
Raise the price, give decent food to everyone, free oft drinks and a reasonable price for good wine and beer.
For better in air work time, require that if you are right handed and you are going to work, you sit in a C or F seat and the lefties place themselves in D or A. If you’re not going to work, B and E works in the middle seat. Also, make that middle seat separate. Have arms rests for both people.
Now, imagine what happens on the other flights. Ever been on an Orlando flight two days before Christmas? Parents, kids, screaming babies, everyone’s toys, strollers, diapers, special food yes, it is better than a sharp stick in your eye, but not by much!
I digress….now back to the idea at hand. We should also have in these flights a way to have networking, discussions, have them sponsored by a company that can make a pitch about their service or product.
Can you imagine an HP flight where they get the plane painted with a giant printer and then on board, there is a rep that can tell you about their printers and give demos and discounts! The ideas are endless. The nausea is also.
The question is, will you pay less for a flight if it is sponsored? Would you mind a few in-flight commercials with an air of business and an ability to network? Think Linkedin in the the air. The airline might be able to take a row of seats out so that they can expand everyone’s seating area. The airlines must learn, we are not all 5’4″ and 110 pounds. Some people wish they were, but it’s not reality.
You can’t pick who you fly with in general, but this way you can fly with people with a similar mindset, just like the people that fy to Orlando on December 23rd! Why should they have all the fun!
